  1. Let’s See the Crystal Ball Together: What will happen next?
    Audience: High School students
    Level: 10th – 11th grade.
Objective: Through a series of interactive and creative activities, you will learn to talk about future predictions and future plans using will, going to, and be about to.
By watching videos, making predictions, and designing your own vision board, you will train your mind to think and express ideas about the future.

    Activity 1: 😱What will happen next? 😱
    Instructions:
    • Go to this link: https://learnhip.com/whathappens/
    • Choose at least five numbers and watch the short version of each video clip.
    • After each one, write a short prediction about what you think will happen at the end and explain why you think so.

Example: I think the man is about to fall off the sleigh and will mash the dog in the snow because the dog is trying to stop him.
(Optional) You can watch the full version to check if your predictions were correct!

    Activity 2: 🔮The Fortune Teller. 🔮
    Instructions:
    • Work with a classmate. Go to: https://learnhip.com/fortune/
    • Take turns being the Fortune Teller and the Client.
    • Cast four runes using the website. Each rune will show an image.
    • As the Fortune Teller, make a prediction for your partner based on each image.

Example: This picture shows gloves, the letter E, a guitar, and a pizza. You will go to the doctor, perhaps because you had an accident. Nothing serious, though. You will meet another patient whose name starts with E and you both are going to talk about bands. She will tell you she knows a really good place where they play music and serve pizza. After that, you are going to invite her to go there to prove it is a good place. She will say “Yes”.

    • Switch roles and repeat the activity so that both of you practice speaking.
    • Record your conversation and share it with your me.

    Activity 3: 🏖️My Vision Board 💪
    Instructions:
    • Create a digital vision board showing your goals and dreams for next year 2026.
    • Add at least 10 pictures that explain what, how, when, why, and where you will accomplish your goals.
Example: I will start my own small business in 2026 because I don’t want to work for somebody else.
    • You can use Canva, Google Slides, or the collage option on your phone.
    • Include short pieces of text next to each image to help you explain your ideas when speaking.
    • Present in class.
    • Send your vision board to my email: juan.camilo.pulgarin@correounivalle.edu.co with your name and last name.
    That’s all for now!

  2. Hey Camilo! I really enjoyed this set of tasks because each one offers a different way to practice future expressions while keeping students motivated. The activities combine prediction, interaction, and creativity through videos, dialogue, and visual design, which makes the learning experience truly multimodal. The sequence feels well planned and coherent, and the language focus on expressing future events is very clear. I also found some ideas here that I would like to adapt for my own students since they are both engaging and pedagogically effective.

    short video:

I believe that the big fish will fly out of the man's hands
I think the racket will hit the other athletes head
I believe that the dolphin will splash water into the tourists face
The man would pull up the tablecloth and everything on top would fall to the floor
I think the raven would run after the dog

Hello, I think that your activity is very complete in the sense that it includes many multimodal tools that a teacher could try in order to make tasks in a very different way to what is usually done by educators, also this type of activities could be really useful for kids because through these dynamics they can practice grammar in a non conscious way which may be perfect when it comes to practicing the speaking part when learning a language, in addition the instructions are clear, there is an objective behind the tasks and the visual board part could help them to expand their ideas due to the nature of the activity (about something that they want).
