Activity

Imagine you are a publicist in a weird inventions company. You are in charge of the next advertising campaign for selling a product. Since you have a short time to catch the attention of your target audience, you will make a very short story to convince people to buy your product. Your creation will be posted on the company’s instagram feed using the format of a carousel.

Follow the instructions to create your story:

  1. See the example of the Instagram carousel format.

  2. Select the product you will advertise (click on it to see a picture).

  1. Create your story using https://www.mystorybook.com/

  2. You must create, at least, three scenes. Each one of them should include one sentence minimum. You can write dialogues, a description of the product or questions to the target audience. Be creative and have fun. Use this example I made for you.

  3. Generate the public link of your story and paste it in the comments.

Thank you for paticipating!

  2. https://www.mystorybook.com/story/Vp8nQ It is a great activity, it's very engaging, and also addresses one of the most important aspects of writing, conveying ideas.

  3. Hi Sara,
this looks like a good idea and touches upon the texts we encounter daily. Now, I do think the objective is ambiguos, "expressions related to everyday topics." You know how many topics count as daily life??? So this is too generic. You need to discuss what is it that you are targeting in terms of functions of language and meanings. This is not clear. This is a lesson that could lead to an interesting discussion about for example advertising strategies, critical thinking and how to analyze multimodal texts. also, how to design them. I like very much that you provide an example. Overall, remember that we can always make our classes more interesting beyond language. This is a tasks that offers those possibilities but we should not forget that functions of language are implicit and need attention too.
