In this blog, you are going to find some activities that will help you to understand and practice this week's topics: PAST SIMPLE AND PRESENT PERFECT.
These are the instructions.
1. I'd like you to visit this link, which explains very well the difference between these two verb tenses
https://english.lingolia.com/es/gramatica/tiempos-comparacion/simple-past-present-perfect-simple
2. For you to know the pronunciation of the verbs in those tenses, please pay careful attention to this image.
3. It's time to prove that you learned.
In this link, you are going to find a Lyrics Training activity that consists of filling in the blanks of a song by Frank Sinatra. You will have to listen to the song, and some blanks will appear where you have to write the missing word.
Once you have your score. Paste the screenshot on the comments section.
If you have any questions, you can write me an email: suarez.freddy@correounivalle.edu.co

ReplyDeleteHi Freddy, I tried to paste the screenshot on this comment, but it was not possible. The final score was as follows:

The activity you propose is a good icebreaker exercise to introduce the subject exposed, or to review it as you suggest. It also allowed me to put into practice the pronunciation of verbs in the past that is usually problematic because it has a very subtle final phoneme.
It was an entertaining activity to incorporate music and grade (competition), which makes it attractive for a student of the level you propose. As plus the activity allows to know the pronunciation of a native speaker of words finished in -ed; therefore if the song attracts the student, it is very likely that you can continue practicing these words and incorporate them into your linguistic repertoire.
Hi Freddy, Ok, as I said in class, lessons that announce grammar topics as the main objective are not enticing. Why not focus on meanings? Notice how in this lesson students are sent to learn about TWO grammar topics that are highly complex. Why the two? The song is nice but how much exploitation do you make of it to expand on its meanings and also the grammar. Remember, language appropriation is not only about grammar, it is about functions and meanings. Including pronunciation explanations of ED is complex, people don't get the explanation you show in the table. Too much for a lesson. So, in short, in a lesson like this where students will take this to do home, you have to make it simpler, or break the task into different moments. For instance, use the song to talk about the pronunciation. Additionally, you should include a production activity, like creating a collage of a past vacation and describing it.
